I was born in Surrey, England in 1983 (yes, this is the year that I turn 30!). In the early 90's, I moved with my family to the west coast of Canada and I have lived here ever since. I currently live in a small town on Vancouver Island, British Columbia with my husband and our two monstrously cute little boys (both under 4). I love where I live and truly believeVancouver Island is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I love being outdoors (when it's warm enough!) and our family spends a lot of time exploring and playing at our local parks, beaches, rivers, lakes, forests and mountains. The Lost Magic books are primarily set on Vancouver Island and the breath-taking scenery around me has definitely had a strong influence on my writing. I can't think of a more fitting or magical place to set my books.
Amber Frost was my first novel and is also the first book in The Lost Magic series. It was originally published as an ebook in 2010 by ireadiwrite Publishing (a previous devision of Central Avenue Publishing that specialized in electronic books). After the success of Amber Frost, the book was re-released in the Fall of 2011 in paperback and was soon followed by the second book in the series, Silver Dew. Silver Dew was published by Central Avenue Publishing in the Winter of 2011 in both ebook and paperback formats. Due to popular demand, a third book, Sapphire Sun, was added to the series and will be available in both ebook and paperback February 28, 2013.
I'm not sure if anyone is really that interested in my education but since I've spent a lot of time going to school (and I'm still paying off my student loans!) I'm going to tell you all about it! In 2001, I graduated from high school, receiving several bursaries and an Entrance Scholarship to the University of Victoria. I went on to study Art Education, Art History, Elementary Education, Child & Youth Care, and Literature at UVic and gradauted in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts major. I decided to continue my education at Vancouver Island University where I studied Special Education and received GPA award and was included on the Dean's List. I graduated from VIU in 2006 with a certificate in Special Education Assistance. In 2009, I was accepted into the M. Ed program at UVic in their school of Educational Psychology and Leadership studies, to continue my studies in Special Education. Also in 2009, my first child was born and my post-secondary education was post "on hold" but luckily, I have still found the time to write. I hope to eventually return to my Graduate studies but for now I am quite busy raising my family and writing books.
